Sobekin - The light in the night
The word kin has a double meaning; someone's family member, relative or a tribe. Sobekin is a monthly gathering at Aether where the tribe can connect and share their passion for a sophisticated sound. The journey cannot be complete without inviting a distant relative who's proximity is important to us.
"Disco to techno and back again"
Jordan’s schedule these days includes stops in New York, Japan and London, but his reputation has been built on almost two decades of relentless work closer to home. As resident and promoter at Belfast’s weekly party The Night Institute, and before that a curator of the city’s not-quite-legal late-night parties, Jordan has played many roles within his local scene alongside the countless hours behind the decks. It has afforded him a legitimacy that is becoming a rarity in the electronic music community, placing him at odds with the common thirst for overnight success stories.
Having released on Permanent Vacation, Correspondent, Phantasy, Cormac’s Polari label and his own Nocturne imprint and with support from HÖR, Boiler Room, Mixmag LAB, Feel My Bicep, Ninja Tune Solid Steel, AVA Festival, Beats In Space, Truants, DJ Mag, BBC Radio 1’s Peak Time Mix and Tom Ravenscroft on BBC Radio 6 – it’s easy to see why Jordan is hailed as one of Ireland’s finest contemporary electronic music artists. His best-selling Nocturne Edits and original studio offerings have found support from everyone from Erol Alkan and Midland to Peggy Gou and The Blessed Madonna.
Doruk, was born in 1987 in Istanbul, takes the groove as the major decider in his music with multi-genre roots, he prefers blending syncopated house tunes, electronica, disco and percussion based eclectic vibes.
