Aether is a hibernated underground techno + house project from Budapest. Unique visuals, proper sound and dedicated community. No track of time.
Aether Club Closing — OFFICIAL STATEMENT
After more than eleven years, Aether Club will close its doors at its current location in Budapest.
Aether opened in December 2015 with a relatively simple idea: to create a proper underground club in the heart of Budapest, built around an exceptional sound system, groundbreaking visuals, and above all, a deep commitment to music and community.
It was never the easiest idea to build a business around.
Over the past eleven years, Aether has hosted over half a thousand artists, some of whom have since gone on to become global stars, welcomed countless nights of local and international talent, and became a meeting point for generations of people connected by electronic music and Budapest’s underground culture.
We are proud of what the club became.
The decision to close this location has not been an easy one, and it is the result of a number of circumstances that have accumulated over time. The rapidly increasing cost of operating in Budapest’s city centre, rising rents and the growing commercial pressure on the neighbourhood have made it increasingly difficult to sustain the venue in the form in which it was conceived.
Aether Club will have its final weekend at this location on 25–26 September 2026.
This is therefore the end of Aether here — but not the end of Aether itself, what comes next remains open, till then we set the hibernation chambers to infinity.
For the moment, we want to thank every artist who played, every person who danced, worked, promoted, supported or simply spent a night with us, and everyone who contributed to making Aether Club what it was.
Eleven years is a long time for a club.
Long enough to see scenes change, friendships begin, generations pass through the door, and entire chapters of Budapest nightlife come and go.
We are grateful that Aether was part of it.
